Requiem-Hades : 14 Aug 1999
An email question asked about a current possibility:
1. The Requiem-Hades conjunction. Requiem tends to cause a person to incline toward acceptance (which can also manifest as "a lack of action to change a situation.") While sometimes Requiem is associated with funerals, most of the time, you'll see it as the tendency to not struggle with its aspects. In the case of Hades, a person can "be accepting of" anything "Hades:" a debilitating situation, something that would ordinarily cause embarassment, dirt, having to attend to really detailed tasks or chores, a level of secrecy, a period of depression or other hardship or other Hades issues. And yes, there is a positive side. The conjunction can allow one to "be at peace with their past"-- or to not be troubled by a lack or problem...and that's a good thing.
Since we really don't have the luxury of having transits always enacted by others, sometimes transiting energies resonate with similar radix patterns and spark them into our own behavior. We are all familiar with instances like a Neptune transit where one minute we feel that another is impractical and the next minute we feel fuzzy-headed. So with the Requiem-Hades, you might want to ask (yourself or if its in a client's chart,) "Am I really okay with this 'bad situation' or this 'ugly behavior or reaction,' .... and if I am, should I be?"
If you are asking based on angularity in a return chart, you'd want to consider other transit and radix angulars. For instance, although you don't mention it, t-Hidalgo, Rx would be in opposition. Then you have Hidalgo, Rx adding the reluctance to fully discuss something (... and the Requiem-Hades: satisfied for their to be a mistake, okay with the idea that things are difficult, etc.) There may be "matters from the past" (Rx) that aren't fully discussed or some history of circumspection so that one sorta' has to "be okay with errors, difficulties, etc. This can promote a situation where people aren't talking about important stuff--they're willing to "let it ride" -- even though they know that something isn't right and/or will get worse. Radix or natal angulars (and other transit angulars) would add more descriptive detail about the situation.
And, as always, there's more to say about this, but maybe these ideas will get you started. m
Eclipse stuff : 8 Aug 1999
FROM THE AOL BOARD'S DISCUSSION OF "HOW LONG" AN ECLIPSE HAS AN EFFECT
Thoughts on this in the astrological community have long been mixed. I'm familiar with equating the length of the eclipse to months (or years!) Some would even use two or more years (that the eclipse degree stays "charged.") Last Fall I did a solar return for a client with an 18 Leo return chart angle. I discussed the possibility that the fact that the angle matched the eclipse might well mean that she would be "feeling" much of what the eclipse demanded as part of her (astrological) year... even though it started last November. I recently received a note from her and she very much confirmed that. She said that she thought the eclipse stuff was "rumbling"-- like a storm off in the distance-- but that she wouldn't pay attention.... until about May (when the Zeus lightning of the eclipse started hitting the ground all around her!)
To the best of my knowledge, no one can offer a definitive answer about this. In the case of this 18 Leo eclipse, it's almost an unanswerable question-- because we're gonna' have that 16 Aquarius eclipse early in 2000. So this is "a beat" that is definitely going to go on for a while.
Because it's impossible to track all the eclipses in client charts, I tend to focus on a 6-month period (but I don't think that's all there is to it.) I emphasize the period from the Sun's approaching or applying square (3 months before the eclipse) to the separating square, 3 months after. I also think the eclipses tell an ongoing story-- but it all gets too complicated to track in a lot of different charts. Do you recall the eclipse "story" example of Charles Stuart in Mechanics of the Future?
I've listed how the eclipses related to the angles and Psyche in the BT charts (for the year of diagnosis,) and it's powerful. But I always feel there's something more to it (than I've understood.)
We could (all) do a better job of understanding them by sharing examples and experiences. While I often write stuff about the next eclipse in TOOT, I use the eclipse chart. But I think you can profitably focus just on what's in the eclipse axis in your own chart. For instance, depending on one's age, this 18 Leo eclipse will affect a generation's Kronos, Zeus or (if you're younger) Pluto.
If it's close to your Kronos, what's happening about: your feelings and actions relative to your own competency (or recognition of the competency or authority of others)? What have you been seeing about Timing and the price paid for success?
If it's your Zeus, are "5 year plans" set in motion? Are you "angrier" than usual? Sexier? Learning stuff about your ability to "follow through" on things? How productive are you? Is that "restrained fire" of Zeus imploding or exploding?
If it's your Pluto, are you surrendering to the "right" army? Are you seeing important stuff about your "real" motives? Are you figuring out what you actually can control? What's come to the surface and won't leave you alone?
---and if these points are retrograde, what diffuse, hidden or oblique remnants from the past are tucked into them, and how are others showing those energies to you these days? If they're Rx, you may be more nervous about exhibiting them and have more negative expectations of what will occur if you now--under the pressure of the eclispe--try to "do" them in a new way.
---A solar is a New Moon.... did the Lunar eclipse try to "clean house" so you were ready to make a new start now?
--If the eclipse is to a directed factor, are you feeling the brunt of it or is it a person close to you?
.... it's a shame to let such a powerful time & such a remarkable eclipse pass without all of us relating our experience. I usually find that I'm having a rough go with the energies in the eclipse axis--and circumstances keep pushing 'em in my face. I sense that I've got to get to a "new place" on/with the energy, and after a number of umbrella steps, I gradually get the new drift. The eclipse is still a few days off, and I sure haven't gotten the drift yet (but am strugglin' like a big dog!) :)
Life beyond the Eclipse : 1 Aug 1999
Brief take on August Issues
Hera\Lilith, Rx: Review of past decisions about relationship or finances; "getting even" and "revenge" take the form of criticism, rejection or attempting to establish the sense of competition; old jealousies surface to complicate relationship; increased awareness of the gender strictures others hold.
Atlantis x Hades: Investigations reach into very private information; lack of water; dirty, toxic water; crimes associated with having insider type information; malicious or demeaning actions with the intent to punish; opportunity to understand the connection between feelings of shame and the (unconscious) belief that one "deserves no better;" admission, confession or release of information about the past; betrayal of things that one "isn't proud of;" "underwater."
Atlantis x Kronos: Private details of the lives of the rich, famous or infamous come to light; incidents that feature special "knowing" about the father, boss, government leaders or rules; awareness of a person who's reputation is built on having "juicy" information about others; flights over water; "surf's UP!" laws and procedures designed or intended to punish; sense of doom about (Kronos:) the father, the leader, the timing, or success; awareness of legalities or laws that affect access to private information.
Atlantis x Pallas: Diplomacies, civillities and strategies intended to get information that either isn't willingly given or is too personal and private; similarly, private revelations may be part of a larger scheme.
Askalaphus x Icarus: Concern about health or medical risks and dangers; need for haste in handling a medical matter; consider that a person may find that "running away" IS part of their healing; since Icarus is associated with flight and speed, the role of doctors or medicine can indicate "flight or speed"-related symptoms.
Askalaphus x Eros: This combination accents the medical status or role of the cardiac or reproductive system, but on a more subtle level also suggests that some of the "health" is affected by the extent of the will to live.
Askalaphus x Icarus x Eros: As well as rapid heart beat or the need for quick treatment, this is prime for "health risks associated with sexual behavior."
Icarus x Circe: Quick! Get help!
Eros x Vulcanus: Pressure applied to pulse points; awareness of how habits affect the heart; awareness of "sexual CHEMISTRY & charisma;" seeing that some interpret sexual feelings as "pressure"-- as though they "have to" act on those feelings.
----- Well, those are some starter ideas for things that can show up angular on charts now (...and, this can produce a bit of distraction as we head into the eclipse.)
Spine Surgery : 1 Aug 1999
<< I am looking at near future Spine surgery, and the eclipse is killing my chart. Last surg resulted in an NDE...if I go again, I am staying this time. >>
Charts are very meticulous in representing the details... so it'd be good to say more about the problem. We look to Saturn in a general way for the spine, but your chart will show much more about it than just that.
And the NDE... from the anesthesia, respiratory or cardiac response? The two things (the surgery and the NDE) may not be indicated at the same time for the next surgery (so don't go thinking you're getting out of "here" anytime soon!!!) I'd sure set up the chart for that prior event and study the heck out of it.
Then, because I'm a big believer in the Ameliorate the Gods theory, I'd do a bunch of Saturn things. I'd meditate on my father (and how "he" was too much with me--even if he never really was,) wear three watches, say NO to fear, dye half my hair white, see if I was feeling responsible for things that weren't mine to "wear;" I'd back up to walls and try to rub off whatever ghosts I was carrying back there, and read any book I could on Saturn for other suggestions. Maybe the gods will be satisfied with all that!
(Maybe they won't, but at least they'll be amused.... and that counts.) Seriously (although, in a way, I was...of course, Lord Saturn, I was "serious") there is the potential for bi-dimensional healing-- solving a problem on one level sometimes does solve it on another. And, it can be fun coming up with rituals to try it! (Yeah, I know, Saturn doesn't always "do" fun..... )
When we apply the Saturn to Admetus, we get "back spasms, constriction around the spine, maybe discs or some other structure too densely or tightly packed--some crunching on the spine, maybe areas of numbness, more stiffness" (and probably a number of other things I can't think of at the moment.) When we apply Admetus to medical testing, it often means having to wait for test results... and with Saturn, some are having to wait... and wait; or are being told to "give something more time"-- while others are seeing the consequences of having endured a problem for so long. Both energies are into "hardness"-- and with the way Admetus can "steel" or gird itself, lots of folks are having trouble "loosening up." With a Saturn-Admetus, the "being between a rock and a hard place" is REAL!!! :)
Uranus is probably turning itself inside out trying to not be only "tension" and bring change. (So saith Pollyanna!)
Pluto and death : 1 Aug 1999
Some thoughts:
1. The "burning" is likely Zeus (so that points to the eclipse\ t-Zeus, for one thing.)
2. I do not always find Pluto active for death; things like Admetus, Mars/Saturn and sometimes Uranus/Neptune are likely. It's astonishing (to me-- but gratifying!) how often Venus and Jupiter are prominent in death charts... along with Poseidon!
3. Whenever there's an important surgery, charts look radical! The Admetus in Taurus can present as "blockage, narrowing, limitation or obstruction to the throat"\ Zeus-t = inflammation, burning. Since the esophagus leads to the stomach, the Moon, Ceres or Demeter should be affected.
As I emailed, there are a number of death examples in the BT book to which you can refer, (with birth data and dates & time of death) but this all brings up some ethical questions.... and some medical ones as "the attitude of a patient toward a treatment is of paramount importance in determining how efficacious that treatment will be." It's mind over matter after all.
And, even the American Medical Association is having to acknowledge (after all kinds of research) that "prayer seems to work." The person doesn't even have to know that people are praying for his or her recovery! m
