Diana - Nemesis - Psyche

1. Diana (and Artemis...): Since there have been a lot of posts on these two, we don't need to cover them again. I had written about Artemis in Toot, and then stopped including it in the ephemeris for this reason: it was tough enough back then trying to prove the effectiveness of 39 asteroids to the astrological community. I thought I needed to limit the number and have extensive research on that number (and in every astrological technique you could think of!) After a few years, I realized that some people simply weren't gonna' accept asteroids (for various reasons..ahem...) so I moved on, but neglected to resume including Artemis (and several others.)

I do want to add these notes about Diana: As well as using it to explore one's relationship with nature and the animal kingdom, remember that Diana was racing through the forest (whether you see her in gossamer or buckskin and fringe) BECAUSE SHE WAS BEING CHASED. She was trying to elude capture; she didn't want to be found. She was involved in a Hunter-Prey dynamic.

Thus, Diana can be huge in charts where other factors indicate violence. But look for that "evasion" and attempt to avoid being pinned down or caught in less dramatic ways as well. What does Diana say about how you "hide behind trees" or "run" (when the pressure of aspecting points presses)? How does the sign characterize the ways or style of your attempt to out-race what's chasing you? Does the house of Diana aid or hinder this work? Do you use the sign or house "to hide in or behind"? How do the house, sign, aspects or axis describe what you were running from...who or what's "after you"?

 2. Nemesis: Nemesis is, uh, your nemesis... your bete noir, your undoing, your Achilles Heel. But it's also BLAME and it can use aspects for "scapegoating." It shows "the cause of problems," and the lovely, luxurious illusion of having a named "enemy." It's a familiar problem or situation in which you find yourself-- mostly on the losing side!

Checking Nemesis in your chart, what's "the problem," and who's "at fault"? (Example: Nemesis-Neptune: what problem??? <grin> Nemesis-Neptune: One's "undoing" can be their sensitivity, their idealism, a level of personal chaos, the time it takes for them to sort out trust, and their level of empathy.)

A Sun-Nemesis can be a family scapegoat or think that "they're" the problem to an excessive degree. A retrograde Nemesis may not understand the real source of difficulty; they may not consciously identify with "the problem;" they likely had negative experiences where "blame" was a theme.

3. Psyche:
While very literally "the brain" and its status or state, Psyche's configuration details much of the mental-emotional history and of those scenes and experiences that installed psychological pain. So, what was/is so wounding about the natal house in which Psyche resides? And how does its sign add to that description? How does the sign help to explain how you respond to emotional pain (yours, that of others)? Is the sign a defense from feeling, or does it drive you further into psychological awareness?

Take a minute to really relax, to sink down into yourself, going deeper with each exhalation. Let that release drift throughout your body. Then bring each of the aspects to Psyche to mind. These aspects "affect your mental-emotional state;" they also hold childhood scenes that have left a residual impact. They show what caused damage, and how you respond when those memories are triggered-- what you "do" when you're "hurt." They are part of a "raw wound" and hyper-sensitivity.

You'll need to be both honest and gentle with yourself as you explore all that Psyche in your chart has to tell you about your past (and present.) In a sense, Psyche is a wound... and sometimes, out of that woundedness, a person becomes very sensitive to the pain of others. (Thus, sometimes Psyche is "psychic"-- but that doesn't change the fact that it relates to emotional damage that must, over the course of life, be transformed to a gift...or at least resolved.) ---- Sooooo, consider:

  • 1. What might happen when transiting Pluto aspects Psyche?
  • 2. If someone had an Arachne-Diana, might they get a little claustrophic about anything or anyone who "surrounded" them?
  • 3. When someone has a Nemesis-Sphinx, what's the problem?
  • 4. A Diana-Atlantis can refer to marine animals, but what else would you say about it? Why/when does that person become evasive or hard to pin down?
  • 5. If Nemesis colors your perception of who and what's "at fault," what happens too often with a Hera-Nemesis?
  • 6. While a Psyche-Ceres can have psychological reactions to foods, what would you say about their need to be taken care of?
  • 7. Since Pluto can have "complicated motives," what are some of the things you'd say about a chart where there is a Nemesis-Pluto?
  • 8. Psyche is, by nature, an "emotional" energy, what might some of the results be if you paired it with Mercury? What would be "in the thoughts"? Is talking the same as feeling?
  • 9. A Bacchus-Psyche can relate to drugs that have a psychoactive effect. But if Bacchus is denial, substitution for emotional honesty, or undue preoccupation, what would that mean to an aspect with Psyche?
