Radix: Arthur Shawcross

June 6, 1945  *  4:14 am EWT  *  Kittery, Maine

Source: “The Misbegotten Son” by Jack Olsen

Biographical Information:  After spending 14 years in prison for murdering two children, he was released in April 1987. Not  long afterward, the worst killing spree in New York history began.  11 women, all prostitutes, murdered.

Please wait while the 360* radix chart loads...It was found that he had the XYY chromosome anomaly; many with the extra Y chromosome are violent offenders.  He also had grossly elevated kryptopyrrole levels.  This high level of “fire” is considered a biochemical marker of psychiatric dysfunction.  Effects of it include: partial disorientation, abnormal EEGs, nervousness, depression, episodic dizziness, progressive loss of ambition, poor school performance, and decreased sexual potency. Such abnormal levels also correlate with: rages,  major problems with stress control, inability to control anger once provoked, severe mood swings, poor memory, a preference for night time, violence and anti-social behavior.

Shawcross had a history of of head trauma (see Psyche in 09 Taurus,) headaches, blackouts, fainting spells and virtually all of the XYY and raised kryptopyrrole symptoms.  The EEG of his brain showed paroxysmal irritative patterns similar to those with temporal lobe epilepsy.

He said his victims reminded him of his mother (when they didn’t care.)  He was given to rages and fantasy (to compensate for masculine inadequacy.)  He killed his victims with his bare hands;  he sometimes consumed parts of his victims.  He would cut up his victims as though they were animals, sometimes using the corpses sexually.  After killing a victim, he would prop the body in a degrading position.  Although it was a complete fabrication, he claimed that he had killed, raped and tortured people in Vietnam.  He also claimed that he had witnessed atrocities and stated that he had been made to kill; he would relate—in detail—incidents of the rape and murders of women and children.   He was an avid fisherman and hunter (and killed several of his victims near bodies of water.)

He never left the house unless he looked perfect (hair combed, clothes neat, etc.)  He resented favors or having others do things for him.  He talked constantly about his mother (a/w/a the Moon, see also Ceres and Demeter, Ceres, Rx in 24 Libra, Demeter in 13 Taurus,) and how she didn’t love him and how he was never able to get her approval.

He had a one track mind and couldn’t vary, improvise or adapt (and such perseveration can be a symptom of schizophrenia.) He was knocked unconscious a number of times during his childhood.  No subject was too insignificant for him to lie about.  As an infant, he had a “blank” look much of the time—no expression whatsoever.  When he cried (Orpheus,) one eye (Astraea) stayed dry!  He was often the butt of jokes, and was nicknamed “Oddie.”

He tormented his siblings (Isis a/w/a Mercury) and had strong fantasy playmates.  He craved attention and would pull stunts or feign injuries to get it.  When older boys bullied him, he would make a sound described as an imitation of crying.  In fights with his cousins, he’d say things like: “Bang! Zap! Powie!” as though it were a cartoon.  He still “wet the bed” into his teens and still had night terrors (see Hekate conjunct the Moon and Toro in 22 Aries.)

He was fascinated by fires (Zeus) and started many.  Like serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer, he displayed “patterned, cadenced walking,” and repeated the word “Die!” over and over while exhibiting the step pattern.

He loved his little sister to the point of imagining having sex with her, but was close to no one else.  He had extreme trouble showing affection.  He hated and resented authority (Saturn, Kronos.)  He had no impulse or anger control; once in a fight, he would have to be pulled off of the other combatant.  In his youth, he once bit another boy in the testicles during a fight.  He tormented animals (Diana) and said he liked to see them suffer and to see how long it would take them to die.

His problem with orgasm began in his 20s.  Few of his victims escaped alive, but one who did felt that she survived because she “played dead” during the sexual act. After returning from Vietnam (he say NO combat while on his military tour of duty,) his behavior became increasingly erratic, and including 2 suicide attempts, one with pills and another by slashng his wrist.  He beat his (second) pregnant wife unconscious, and she miscarried.

Here is the Shawcross chart on a 90* dial:

Nearly every phrase of the biographical information contained clear directives to planets, asteroids and TNPs.  Among those:

Perseveration:  Admetus = Psyche = Hybris

Sexual issues: Eros in 09 Mutable = Hades (decline, degradation, lower classes, criminal potential)

As well as using Mars for anger, see the pictures of Siva (26 Gemini) and Siwa (08 Libra) for rage and for a sexual cycle of withdrawal followed by periods of frenzy.

I have no other certified cases of the elevated biochemical “fire” shown by the kryptopyrrole levels; it may be shown partially by Zeus, Mars or a complex midpoint or formula.

For further study, below you will find the Precession Corrected Lunar Return for November 11, 1989.  This return would be in effect while he murdered two women.  The chart conventions show only the return chart angles with the radix points in the inner rim.  Only the angular factors are shown—those within ten degrees of each of the angles.  The small numbers indicate the natal house in which that return chart angle (by degree) would appear; ie., the return chart Descendant degree brings his natal 12th house to the Descendant—and thus to his transactions with others during the effective period of the cycle.

Since the police were patrolling everywhere, Shawcross borrowed someone else’s car (Phaethon, Rx.)  He would take people little gifts of food (Ceres.)  Angular energies “manufacture” events through their tension, angle to angle. Incorporate not only paransquares and oppositions, but also those “dialogues” energies at each and any angle have with those at any other angle.  For instance,  you might interpret the Pluto\Diana, Rx opposition as: “He asserts power or is obsessed with “hunting” others and treating them like animals;  you might include a factor at another angle, forming an angular picture of Pluto\Diana, Rx = Toro x Hades, saying that in this search for dominance in which he plays “hunter” with his prey, he then brutalizes and degrades.  You might continue to form the angular order: Pluto\Diana, Rx – Toro x Hades = Ceres, Rx to include the idea that his behavior is linked to the negative relationship with his mother.   And how about: Dsc x Hades\Hopi x Ceres x Juno – Diana, Rx = Atlantis for… You would be disgusted to know that I cut and ate them as though they were fish!

But it is also effective to use the angular squares:  Hopi is “Cutting” and Diana is “animal;”  Pandora sq. Kassandra: Those who don’t listen to advice are in for a very big surprise—note that the police had issued warnings (and that’s an Atlantis thing) and were maintaining a strong presence in the combat zone—and Shawcross managed to talk these women into his car right under the noses of the police!

There is a wealth of detail here (including Asc\Nemesis x DSC – Hera x Apollo, Rx = MC: “I blame them for provoking me into doing what I did.”)  What else do you find?

And, in case you’d like to focus on his sexuality, here is the 360* aspect pattern of his Eros.

By isolating a factor in this way, you can have a more comprehensive sense of the major impact other chart points are having—ie.,  The sexuality feels the nervous, impulsive, and erratic strain from the Uranus square, and the psychosexual (Psyche trines Eros) is further described by all the points in the pattern.  The trine allows the mental-emotional state of Psyche to “flow” into the sexuality; thus emotional “wounds” also move readily into the sexuality and are somewhat isolated, via the trine, from external input, comment and correction.  We might see the effect of the transitional, 165* spread between Eros and the Orpheus-Proserpina conjunction as: the sexuality is affected by depression resulting from loss of connection to the mother.  That Eros is the midpoint of Pluto/Siwa-Vesta says that “Deep psychological issues drive a rage in which he disconnects from his emotions and treats others impersonally—within the sexual act.”  A great deal more can be drawn from any of the aspecting points and the total picture they form.

While the events are tragic and horrid, the charts are instructional (and a worthy objectification of the pernicious Hades-Psyche transit in the Fall of 2000.)
